The Weekly Round-Up – 14/12-20/12

So this is what no TV feels like… Unfortunately over the next three weeks or so the winter break will mean that there’ll be very little TV to cover on The Weekly Round-Up. While it’s probably for the best (this may mean I’ll actually get some real work done), these articles will feel a little empty. These are first world problems at their very worst people!

Brooklyn Nine-Nine Banner - Season 2

Not to worry though, we’ve still got one more episode of Elementary lined-up, along with the Doctor Who Christmas special (in two weeks time), and, of course, the big Homeland season finale next week. Most notable this week though has to be the mid-season finale of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, a show that has truly surprised me this year to become my favourite comedy on TV (Community not included). Good job Peralta!

Homeland, SHO – Krieg Nicht Lieb

It had to happen sometime after Homeland‘s magnificent run of late. The momentum slows down this week, and while a determined, vengeful Quinn is an absolute joy to watch onscreen, the rest is a little underwhelming. It’s the big finale next week though! – 8/10

Brooklyn Nine-Nine Banner - Title

Brooklyn Nine-Nine, FOX – Stakeout

Boyle and Peralta onscreen together are always hilarious, but the stakeout concept of this episode perhaps tired their chemistry out a little. While the rest of the mid-season finale was fun but insignificant, Holt stood out above everyone with some real zingers – 8/10

Elementary Banner - Title

Elementary, CBS – End Of Watch

While the glorification of American cops may not be to everyone’s taste under the current circumstances, Elementary carves out an intriguing weekly mystery by turning the spotlight on New York’s finest for this quiet yet engaging mid-season finale – 8/10
